  1. This video was really interesting; I learned a lot of information that I would have never thought of such as one in eight married couples met online. To me that’s really weird because I would never do an online ad to find a girlfriend. So for these people to find their soul mate online is just really shocking to me. I was surprised that we are being prepared for jobs that do not exist yet. Its weird how people would be trained for a job that is available for them. I can’t believe that when you turn thirty-eight you could have between ten and fourteen jobs. I always thought that once you got your degree and found a job that you would try and stick with that job for the rest of your life. Of course there are always some complications that cause you to switch jobs but not ten times. I don’t like that student starting a four year technical degree will learn stuff that will be outdated by their third year. What is the point of learning something that you wont ever need to use, it pointless to have students working so hard only to never use it again? I can defiantly believe that there will be a computer in 2013 that will exceed the human brain. Technology is on a rampage now and I feel as though there are some computers that are smarter than the average human brain now. So I know it is possible to have a computer that smart by 2013.

  2. I found some of the facts in the video interesting and pretty eye opening. It covered a lot of things we don’t tend to recognize throughout our daily lives. For example, tons of people attend college in order to pursue certain jobs, however, all of those people do not know that they may be preparing themselves for jobs that aren’t available to them or for jobs that don’t exist. Also, I liked the part about words in the English language. I found it intriguing that there were five times as many words in Shakespearian time then there are now. Furthermore, predicting that there will be a supercomputer in the near future that is superior to the human brain seems a bit outrageous, yet still seems very possible. It’s also pretty interesting to realize how quickly information we learn becomes outdated. The video provided an example with students seeking a four-year technical degree. It said that what they learn in their first year of study would be outdated by their third year. This makes me question why school material isn’t constantly updated. What’s the point of learning something that’s not going to be applicable anymore by the time we need to utilize the information we’ve learned?
I didn’t really enjoy the parts about when the first commercial text was sent, or how many Google searches are made daily, or how many text messages are sent daily. Those types of things seem like pointless information to me and I don’t really care to load my head with useless information. Knowing the number of Internet devices in a specific year isn’t going to get me anywhere.

  3. To me these videos are very interesting because it puts the world into a realistic perspective that you normally would not think about. It is very interesting but at the same time very frightening to realize the truth about the world and how fast it is developing. I can’t even imagine technology growing anymore, it seems like we already have it all in the palms of our hands. I think that most of the facts about the U.S. were generally negative which always is sad to hear. We have lost job security and personal interaction. All due to the changing world that hopefully one day will be rediscovered. We are living in a world that is moving too fast for us to even keep up. The fact about how many google searches there are per day just blew my mind and just to think how many I contributed to that number just today. You always hear older people saying how in college they always had to run to the library if they ever wanted to do research. We are getting so lazy, but at the same time we are all saying how great it is. With this fast paced world we live in now, I think we are starting to lose insight on things that really matter. This video is an eye-opener and hopefully changes the general view about the future. Yes we want to move forward, but never forget about what truly matters in the world.

I kind of agree with you with the facts about when the first commercial text was sent or knowing the number of internet devices in a specific year. They were pretty pointless to me too. I only found a few interesting like the ones I actually would contribute to like google. I wonder if there was a specific purpose though for them to put those facts into the presentation though? Maybe it was just trying to show the audience not the specific number, just that the technology is growing significantly. I don’t know though, just a thought.

I agree all these facts that the video provided are facts that I would have never thought about on a regular basis. Although I do realize people are preparing themselves for jobs they might not get but I did not realize that they were also preparing themselves for jobs that do not exist. I disagree with you on the supercomputer; as of now there are computers that can instantly search anything that you need wouldn’t you agree that a computer would be smarter than your brain? It is pointless to know how many text messages are sent because no one cares about that information; its just not interesting. Haha I agree with you last sentence… what difference does it make if I know how many Internet devices there are?

  6. The "Did You Know?" Youtube video was definitely a fanatastic eye opening look into what our world and lives have evolved into all within a few decades. Some of the things mentioned in the video have never ever crossed my mind or even things I think of on a basis. Some things that caught my attention were how that most of the material we're learning now in college is going to be outdated within two years! If this is so then how come our manufacturers aren't quick enough to update textbook materials that would be useful? I guess it just goes to show us how advanced and fast the world around us is becoming. Coming from New York City I found it outstanding that it as estimated that a week's worth of the New York Times contains more information than a person was likely to come across in a lifetime during the 18th century. Like really? It's so mind boggling! The U.S. Department of Labor said that bythe age of 38 today's learners will have 10 to 14 jobs which is funny because just a little hile back a person only had one or couldn't even find one. I did enjoy finding out when the first text was sent or how many google searches are made in a month or so because like the rest of the world I'm an avid technology user. Sure this video was interesting and filled with random facts that I probably wouldn't have known before today but it isn't going to help me in any way. It may have given me an insight to the future but why not live for the moment now and take it day by day.

  7. Wow! This was a lot of information to take in within 5 measly minutes. I found it to be interesting and just remember thinking through out the course of the video, “Wow, we [Americans] are dumb.” haha Especially when compared to China and India though. I found it odd that China will be the number one English speaking country in the world however. I wonder how that impacts their culture—with everyone becoming fluent in English, are they still maintaining their Chinese language in all various dialects, or is it slowly dying out? Will their language and their culture still be preserved for future generations 50 years down the line? 100 years? That’s definitely some food for thought.
I also found it mildly amusing that there are 5 times as many words now in the English language than during Shakespeare’s time. You would think it would be easier to read his works than any novel today given the fact that he has less of a vocabulary to choose from, instead many people find it to be quite the opposite.
It was pretty amazing however that one week’s worth of the New York Times contained more information than many people came across in their entire lives during the 18th century. It’s too bad that very few read it cover-to-cover, but I still find it incredible that we’ve advanced so far and that we’re lucky enough to have so much information readily available.

  8. The "Did You Know," video was a little overwhelming for me. I have to say that I couldn't help but feel a but of dread from viewing it. To me it seems that if we keep expanding populations and technologies at such a rapid rate then it would be devastating to society and the US in particular. too much of anything is a bad thing. It also looks like the U.S. is slowly being left in the dust as countries like China, Japan, and India are at the forefront of education and technological advances. To me this video makes me question the fate of the U.S. as the most powerful country in the world. It seems like we have reached a tipping point and power is slowly becoming in favor of these Asian countries. This video also made me think about how detached from reality we are becoming. If by 2049 (estimate), a $1,000 home computer will be able to exceed human thought will it take over our need for any critical thinking? Also, will I have the proper education to use the ever expanding technologies in my field by the time I finish school. I plan to attend grad school then get my doctorate. I estimate that by the time I am completely finished with school, the year will be 2016 or 2017. Am I wasting my time staying in school? But then again, maybe I should just relax and move forward with a positive outlook and hope that my potential job opportunities aren't outsourced to a computer.

  9. Carissa Cullum,

I think the statistic stating that China will be the worlds number one english speaking country is due to the insanely huge population they have over there. It's all relative to the amount of people in a given country. China is one of the largest population countries in the world and will likely continue to grow in that fashion for years to come. Also, the fact english is becoming more common over there is most likely due to the escalating rise in influence and power that China is possessing by other advanced countries around the world. I too am concerned for their preservation of ancient culture and language being thrown to the wayside for technology and political gain to be a big player in politics of the world. I wonder the same about India as well. Unfortunately, I feel little culture is to be lost for the U.S. as it is my belief that it is our culture to continual be revolutionizing and advancing ourselves ahead of the rest.

  10. Honestly, some of this information genuinely frightened me. The statistic about technology students learning of half of three years being obsolete by the third year. That is really awful. I know quite a few people who are going into technology based education, and to think that what they're currently learning can mean nothing almost immediately is a scarely concept. Why are they learning what they're learning now if it will only be useless at some point in the near future?
Besides being frightened, there were some things, that if I did not yet know, I did have some assumption of. Like, the thing about text messages. Me, myself, I send well over 100 text messages a day, especially being so far from home. So I wasn't surprised when it said that text messages sent and received exceed the population of the planet.
I wonder why this video chose to look at Myspace instead of Facebook. Facebook is currently more popular. Are there still more people registered in Myspace? However, when they say that if we took Myspace and make it a country, it would be the fifth largest. Isn't that sort of the point for networking sites? To bring people together from all over? That's why there are so many people involved in social networking sites. You can talk to people, friends, even if they're far away. I know I would miss my family much more if I couldn't talk to them, and see pictures of them, via Facebook.
Honestly, the entire concept of the video reminded me of the song "In the Year 2525". Kind of spooky that it's already happening. I'm actually listening to the song right now.

  11. This video did have many eye opening facts about our world today. However, some of them I find difficult to believe. I understand that our economy is growing rapidly and new technology is developing increasingly fast, but to me, it seems nearly impossible to have a super computer made in two years that surpasses the abilities of the human brain. The human brain is always changing and we are always learning new ways to use it. I’m not the most technologically dependent person and I definitely do not keep up with all the new technologies so maybe I just have not heard about this “super computer,” but scientifically speaking, it just seems impossible.
Like I said earlier, though, some of the facts were very eye opening and quite scary. The video stated that the number of text messages a day exceeds the total population. This fact makes me feel like I am not important in the scheme of the world at all. For some reason, this fact makes me not want to text because I do not want to be part of this statistic. It is shocking to learn how dependent we are on technology. Looking at the facts from years ago to the facts today, it’s pathetic. In my opinion, we are too dependent on technology and without it, many people would be lost. I do understand, however, that this is the age that we are living in and technology is definitely not going anywhere. The video is an awakening of what is to come in this world.

  12. To coreyocp,
I agree with what you are saying. It is very scary to realize that our society could come crumbling down due to technological advances. The U.S. used to be the most powerful country, but we are getting behind in what now rules our planet, technology. Not being the most powerful country is also frightening because we won’t be able to know what countries like Japan and China are currently working on. Also, I do not really believe we should worry too much about technology changing while we are in school. If you look at current worker in society, they are learning to adjust to the new technology, as we will too.

  13. I really enjoyed the video; I have seen it a couple times in high school. The video really does not get old though it is extremely fascinating every-time I watch it. In a way the video is a little scary to watch and realize all the things that could be coming to us in our future. I didn’t realize all the possibilities until I first saw the video, but there is so much that our world can offer and so many advances that are to come. The video included so many random facts that are extremely interesting. Some of the facts are so crazy and out there, a person would not realize that all of these things are happening around us. Technology is improving so rapidly around the world that the U.S. will not always be on top. All these different countries are challenging each other around us, with new technologies being made constantly and the future students becoming more and more advanced everyday. I was extremely surprised about the facts including information about computers. How is it that in the future there will be computers that are smarter than humans? I am not sure how accurate this video is with some of the issues. I believe the topics about myspace, and couples getting together online, but it are harder to believe some of the future predictions that are being made. I also wonder how recent the video has been updated because some of the facts do not sound like they are facts from 2010 or 2011. Overall though the video is very interesting and I believe it is something students should watch.

I defiantly agree with you when you say that it puts the world into a realistic perspective, the video does change the way you think and makes your realize all the different things around you. I also agree with what you are saying about all the negative comments about the U.S. it is scary to think that these other countries might surpass the developments that we currently have. I think it is interesting that you say we are getting lazy about things like technology. I think it is somewhat true I believe that we need to make sure we don’t take things for granted and appreciate all the innovations that are happening.

  15. I watched this video last semester in my Global Business Class and it shocked me the first time after reading all these facts. It is amazing how much humans can generate within technology and yet lack so much in other categories. I am fascinated by all the facts and a bit afraid. One fact was said that the course of study that we learn within our first year of college will be outdated by our third year. Well, I would like a refund from tuition for the time wasted in college and in class if I can’t use the information in the future. And it is sad that the U.S. seems to think that it is the Alpha in rank compared to other countries, yet India and China out-weighs us in intellect and population.
Regarding the internet and how far and fast we have come, from huge computer with the capacity of 2 MB to a tiny iPod with more space to share. What will the future be like if man makes computers and computers rule man? Those Sci-fi movies soon will come true when the world is lead by that old toaster you threw away a few years ago. Let’s just say that things will have to come to an end. I also watched on Discovery Channel, “World without Humans”. Very mind-blowing and makes you really think about all that we did and how it will soon be worthless. This video is just an eye-opener for what really lies ahead.

  16. To Carissa Cullum,

I totally agree with you. It is weird that China will be the number one English country. They will soon take over the world because of their lack of physical stature; they will use their intellect to overpower us. But we can see a difference in the way Chinese- American and Chinese children act towards respect and academic studies. I read Hamlet in my AP Language class back in High School and I thought it was awesome after you understood the plot. Before, I wouldn’t understand any of the “diction”. Look at how far we have come in knowledge and technology.

  17. First off,I really enjoyed the music they had playing in the background. It was exciting and keep the video flow better. The video was full of a bunch of fun facts and I thought that it was very interesting to see them all. I find it hard to believe that Chin will be the number one English speaking country in the world, I don’t really see how a foreign country could accomplish such a thing when they have their own language they speak. I also don’t see how India has the smartest people, don’t you think they would be far more advanced and not have so many people living in poverty. One thing that was really cool was to see how much the google searches increased from just a two years. Just imagine what its at by now, two years later. A couple things that didn’t surprise me were the fact the the ipod was taken in so fast. Our country has become so in tune with electronics so it just seems right. Its crazy that the first text message was sent when I was just 4 months old! The fact that the number of texts a day exceeds the number of people on the earth is honestly no surprise. I’ve heard of people sending 1000 texts a day. I think at the rate we are growing is absolutely insane. To think that they are predicting a computer that is that smart to be invented in just two years is crazy. But these days anything is possible!

I see what you mean about the technology information being out of date but isn’t that how it is wit everything? I feel as if we are constantly advancing and changing the way we do things so I think its human nature that we have to adapt and update our logic, so it doesn’t really seem as shocking to me. Also I think they used Myspace instead of Facebook because the video is like two years old and that was right before it went from Myspace to Facebook, at least where I lived. I totally agree with you about it obviously being that big. Its point is to bring everyone together no matter where you are so its pretty clear why there are so many members.

  19. I found the video shocking and kind of upsetting at the same time. It shows how technologically dependent we have become while showing just how far we've come as well. The fact that we are becoming more and more technologically dependent means that if there ever is a time when everything even remotely technological fails to work, millions of people would have no idea how to continue on with their day. Just the idea that we might someday not be able to even function without technology, whether it be a machine making our meals or taking over the factory jobs, is kind of scary to me. So many movies have been made focusing around the idea of robots taking over the world, that it seems kind of surreal that we are almost racing to see who can get there first. I already know several people who seem to go crazy if the power is out or their cell phone isn't working. On the other hand, the fact that a computer that will exceed the human brain's potential might be possible in a couple years shows how far we've come since the medieval times when such things would be deemed outrageous. I'm excited for the future possibilities with technology but I also think we need to slow and figure out where and what we're going to do with all these technological advances before we become a little too dependent on them for everyday chores.

  20. To weebie39,

I definitely agree with you about technology going way to fast for people to keep up. We're definitely going to need to rethink what we're creating because if we keep it up, pretty soon that toaster will definitely be controlling up. Also, I agree but don't the tuition repayment is going happen. I've had several high school teachers tell me half the stuff we're forced to learn in their class we most likely won't use unless we're earning a certain degree. There are also a lot of college that focus mainly on how much money they can squeeze from you before you graduate so it's more the likely the tuition repayment won't happen. Either way, the technological advancement is going to have to slow down and people are going to have to look at just far their willing to go before they realize that it needs to stop.

  21. The video was really interesting as well as overwhelming. I had to stop and pause it multiple times to keep up with it because it was throwing a ton of information at its audience in a short amount of time. The information presented is incredible but not necessarily shocking. Technology is and has been taking over our lives socially and academically. Although it gives us easier means of communicating and learning it has gone too far. I like how the video ends with the question, “What does this all mean?” because it leaves you to answer it for yourself. It is hard to answer that question and the concept is overwhelming to me. I think it’s interesting that young people are being prepared to use technology and have jobs that don’t even exist yet. The fact that we are going to school to learn things that will be out dated in a few years is somewhat scary because it makes me wonder if we will either be simply unprepared or we will be bombarded with preparation. I believe change is a good thing, but to a certain extent. To try and advance every aspect of society is a little ridiculous and completely unnecessary. I think staying true to traditional values and morals is important and this video makes me question whether or not society will choose to abandon them in attempt to keep up with technology. Every day there is some new device to buy that we are told will improve out social status and make our lives a little easier. In my opinion, it’s making our lives far more complicated than necessary.

  22. I have seen this video a few times now, and every time I am still amazed by it. It’s a great concept. In a way, it wakes us up to realize some of the reality in this world. Who knew India has more honors kids than we even have kids? Or that what we are learning now in our first year of college will be outdated by our junior year? I appreciate the effort put into this video and I can’t imagine the time it must have took to acquire all these facts and statistics. It was worth it for the creators because it is a very famous video now and watched all over the world. They do a great job at proving their point that this world is growing now more than ever, as they put it, “we are living in exponential times.” It’s amazing how much simple numbers can amaze you and I think people are so shocked when they see this because they are presented with fascinating information they have never thought about before. I would be interested to see an updated version of this video since it was made in 2008. Even though it was only about three years ago, I’m sure the numbers would be very different now and new information would come about with new inventions and advancing technology. First sign of this video being a little outdated is the MySpace reference. Who uses MySpace anymore? If they were to make a new one MySpace would be out and Facebook would be in, being the most famous social networking site today. Overall a great video that I believe everyone should watch at least once.

  23. I have seen this video before but I still found it interesting the second time around because I had forgotten a few of the stated facts. Something that I found really interesting was the fact that China is now becoming the number one English speaking country in the world. I find this fact fascinating seeing as our own country will not even be able to compete with that spot anymore due to the large population in China. I like how it also talks about how advanced our world is even though things that we are using haven’t even been invented yet and the problems haven’t even been brought up. We are a world that is ever changing and it is amazing to see all of the things that have been invented and have become huge in the past decade. It was also shocking to see that the first text message was sent in 1992. That was the year I was born and I can’t imagine living without all the current technology we have now. People are now making computers that are smarter than humans. This will open so many more doors for industries. We rely so heavily on technology that our society would fall apart if we weren’t continuing to make advancements every day. Technology is a global industry that has virtually no limits.

I think it's interesting you brought up the idea of how the video was created and the hard work that must have gone into it. I think that the creators of the film had a message to get out and a point to make and they did a really good job doing it. It demonstrates the power of the technology mentioned because they were able to attain all that info as well as broadcast it. I think that a lot of people are aware of the excessive dependence we have on technology but I don’t think in general people are willing to do anything about it. I think we have become very comfortable with our high tech way of life and backtracking is scary to a lot of people. It’s possible that we have been at a steady sprint with inventing new things that stopping now seems counter productive.

  25. found this video to be very interesting. It depicts the media to be much bigger than we think. The statistics are fascinating, and I would say I learned more information about the media and our society in those four minutes, than I would have if I spent days researching it. It was very informative, and eye opening. For example the fact that China will soon become the number one English speaking country in the world, or the fact that India has more honors kids than America has kids. To me that is crazy! Also this video stated that we are preparing for jobs that aren’t even available yet, and we are using technologies that aren’t even invented. Our society is so technologically savvy we are always thinking of ways to improve, and come up with more efficient equipment. Before you know it we will be driving flying cars. Another statistic I found to be fascinating was how there are over 200 million users on MySpace, and if it were a country it would be the fifth largest in the world. The Internet is unbelievable, you have everything right at your fingertips, and is one of the main sources of communication between individuals. I think that we as a country are too dependent on our technology that we lose touch with reality sometimes. Pretty soon we aren’t going to remember how to make an actual phone call, because there are so many faster ways to communicate. For example the statistic that states, “ today, the number of text messages sent and received everyday, exceeds the total population of the planet.”

  26. I have seen this video before, and it is extremely interesting. It's hard to believe how much our world has changed in such a short amount of time. Some of the statistics really stood out to me, such as, "there are more text messages sent and recieved every day than the world's population. It's also crazy how things that we are learning in college right now will be outdated in the next 2 years, and that we are being prepared for jobs that aren't even out there yet. I feel that it is a very exciting time to be a college student, because it is impossible to predict what the future holds. Also, that fact that business is becoming more and more global and that India has more honors kids than we have kids, really proves that we are up for a real challenge when we graduate. This is a very relevant topic, and something we definitely should consider. It is fascinating that many people have become very dependent on technology and the impact that it has on technology. It is also eye-opening that soon the US will not be the "best" country anymore, as China and India will soon surpass us. I think we have become too complacent, and become too lazy, as other countries take school and education much more seriously than we do. The amount of information and tools available to people in today's world is extroudinary, and there is definitely more on the way. This is one of the most interesting and mind-boggling videos i have ever seen.

  27. “So it what does it all mean?”
I have to say that I loved this video. The facts that are presented by this youtube clip are not only interesting, but they are amazing. The information presented in this video makes you think twice about you surroundings. It stops to make you think about the world around you and how it operates. The world is a fast moving place that will not slow down. It is amazing that in four years, things will be outdated. For example, the idea that things we learn (in regards to technology) within our first two years of school will be outdated by our third year is shocking to me. It is strange to think that the world is changing so fast. It feels as though soon we will not be able to keep up with its pace. This video had many random facts that were presented in a random order, which made the video very exciting. I felt that every minute I learnt a new fact about the world, things in which I didn’t know before. Each new fact presented new information on the different aspects of the world from the number of babies that will be born to the way technology is rapidly advancing. Another fact that baffled me was the idea that in a couple of years a computer will outsmart the human race. This in an interesting concept, as it is amazing to think that something that is man made can be smarter than man itself. Overall this video was interesting and captivating. It exposed me to many different aspects of life.

I agree that it is odd that humans will create a computer smarter than themselves in a few years; it's almost contradictory to me in a way. How is anyone able to create something more intelligent than themselves? I feel as if we also need to think of the possible repercussions to creating such a computer however because for all we know, the world may end up paralleling "I, Robot" (lol). I too noticed the possibility that the statistics had not been recently updated though and it sparked my curiosity when I considered what the current numbers could possibly look like.

  29. When this video first started and the question “Did You Know?” popped up during the first few seconds, I figured it was going to be another boring informational video that I would have no interest in. But once the music started playing in the background, I was drawn in to watch the rest of the five minute clip. If it wasn’t for this music I may not have watched the whole entire thing. This video truly had some interesting facts that I have never once thought about or would ever think was true. The first fact about China will soon be the number one English speaking country in the world is absurd since it is our dominant language in the United States, and it just proves how that their country is more advanced than us. Although other countries may be advancing faster than us, we still are advancing as well with our job establishment and technology. As the technology grows, so does way to communicate. The part “1 out of 8 couples married in the U.S. last year met online” totally blew my mind. I would never expect the number to be so high because I know I would never trust an online dating site to find a date, not to mention a husband. The video ends with the question, “So What Does This All Mean?” and I feel like that really opens up your eyes and think about what does it all mean. The world we are living in is advancing everyday and things that we are accustomed to today may be “out of date” tomorrow.

I also really liked the music playing in the background. It fit really well with the way the information was being thrown out there. I think it also was helpful to keep my undivided attention. As far as China being the number one English speaking country, I completely agree with you. It seems rather asinine to me to even consider that being true. The number of texts messages sent out daily was no surprise to me either. I feel like talking on the phone has sort of become a thing of the past. Communication nowadays seems to rely mostly on texts and emails; everything is electronic. Who knows what other electronic devices will be out there in the nearby future.

I agree with you that some of the information was indeed frightening. The fact about the technology students stood out to me too. It is incredible that our technological knowledge is advancing at such an alarming rate. It makes me wonder how advanced we will be as a society by the start of the next decade.

The fact about the text messaging did not surprise me either. I too send my fair share of messages daily. To think of all the people in the world who have cell phones and the amount of messages being sent daily is almost mind-boggling.

I’m not sure either why the makers of this video decided to touch on MySpace instead of Facebook. I know that the video was made in 2009, a year when MySpace still had some popularity. But still, the amount of Facebook users was growing rapidly. It would be an interesting fact to find out.

It will be exciting and a little frightening to see what the future holds for society.

I genuinely see where you're coming from in saying that we need to hold onto what matters most in life. I can't remember the last time I had a real phone conversation, or real in depth conversation for that matter, with someone my own age. When I was younger, the biggest thing to do was have a three-way phone conversation. Now, we barely even talk on the phone. Texting is the new 3-way phone call. Supposedly it's more efficient, but what we get through texting is probably less than what we're giving up.
The point about us being lazy as well, I DEFINITELY agree with. Right now, for instance, I'm not sitting in a library chair to respond to this post. I am comfortable, on my laptop, in my bedroom. Obviously, this is a fairly new occurrence for a college student, and I don't see how we could go much farther than we already have, but we will, and that's the truly scary thing.

I also found this video to be very eye opening; I did not know some of those statistics until I saw it in the video. To me, I found some of the statistics to be very scary as well. The one about how in two years there will be a super computer that exceeds all the functions of the human brain. This seems false, because our brain is always growing and learning knew things. Are brain may be like a computer in many ways, but the brain can store more memory then any hard drive on a computer.

I'll have to agree with you on the fact that this video was extremely eye opening and even captivating as well to say the least. I love how you stated that this video awakened you of what is to come in our future. It seems like everyday we are hearing about what kind of new technological device that is coming out or being made. At this moment in time it's crazy to think that at one point there was life without any technology. Being that I'm a psychology major the human brain is one thing that happens to fascinate me. Our brain is constantly changing and taking in new information that it's truly one of the most complicated things. Seeing that they are trying to make a computer that exceeds the human brain is quite interesting and can't wait to see in two years if this ill be successful.

  35. Ali Feulner,
I really agree with your comment about how much this video teaches us. There is no way I would have been able to research all of these statistics because I wouldn’t even know what to look for or where to start. You’re right about the Internet; it’s all there for anyone to access. Which is dangerous and why you have to watch what you put out there. It is too easy for random strangers to find us or see what we look like and what we do. What you say about making phone calls in the future is absolutely true. Who knows what there will be next to eliminate phone calls even more. I barely call anyone any more because texting is much more convenient for you and the other person because they can respond when it is most convenient for them. As the video teaches us, texting has taken over the world, and who knows what will be invented in the future to replace that.

  36. To amber.myer,

I also liked how the video ended with the question, “What does this all mean?” Although many of the facts presented in this video are very fascinating, they are not completely surprising. Everyone knows how crazy the world has become, and how dependent we have become on technology. However, this video makes you consider how to deal with these issues, and wonder what the future will hold. Like you said, although these various technological advancements make our lives more convenient, it is going to be very interesting to see how these affect us in the long run.

  37. To Kathleen,

I completely agree with the statement that you made that it makes you think twice about the things and world around you. If we were to look back 10 years from now we can see all of the crazy advances in many areas like technology and medicine. Then we can think ahead to the future and think about all of the advances that could be made in the next 10 years that could really enhance our society as a whole. People say today how they can't live without their smart phones or laptops but what will we be saying we can't live without 10 or 20 years from now?

Both of our comments relate to each other. When you said that you found it weird that one out of eight married couples met online, I personally agree that finding a soul mate online is not something I would ever plan to do. It just does not seem like the right way to meet someone. And saying that the technology is soon going to be more advanced then the human brain. At this rate the world is going to be ran by computers and we are just going to rely on them more than we already do, and if that happens there might be a negative outcome for the future.
